Eleven years in the Himalayas has taught us one thing: the best adventures are the ones you come home from. Everything HAL offers, from a two-week fastpack to a custom expedition is built around that principle. Small groups, expert guides, genuine safety infrastructure, and no cutting corners.

We run three types of expeditions. Each one is designed for people who take their adventures seriously.

Fastpacks — Fast, Light and Usually Dirty

Nepal’s trails were made for this. HAL’s fastpacking programme is our flagship — self-supported, non-competitive expeditions across the Himalayas for trail runners, endurance hikers and anyone who wants to cover serious ground in serious mountains.

You carry a light pack. We handle everything else — permits, logistics, satellite communication, remote doctor on call, and a guide who has done this route before. Groups of ten maximum. All-inclusive price. No porters carrying your load.

Our current fastpack programme is part of the Great Himalayan Series — a multi-year expedition exploring Nepal from east to west, on sections, across the most spectacular sections of the Great Himalaya Trail.

Everest Three Passes Fastpack — October 2 to 18, 2026 Renjo La, Cho La and Kongma La in the Khumbu. Optional Gokyo Ri climb. 131km, max elevation 5,601m. From $3,095 all-inclusive.

Treks — Off the Beaten Path

Not every Nepal adventure needs to be a fastpack. HAL runs custom treks for people who want to go deep into Nepal’s remote regions at their own pace — with the same safety infrastructure, the same licensed guides, and the same commitment to doing it properly.

We do not offer one-size-fits-all itineraries. You tell us your experience, your dates and the kind of terrain you want to cover. We design the trip around you, with a minimum group size of two.

Every HAL trek includes a remote doctor on call, satellite communication devices, a Kathmandu backstopper, all permits, and a comprehensive trip handbook with GPX tracks and day-by-day breakdown.

Popular routes include Annapurna, Manaslu, Langtang, Dolpo, Mustang and Kanchenjunga — but if you have something else in mind, get in touch.

Climbs — Nepal Peaks and Beyond

Nepal has 1,310 peaks open for climbing. HAL is a fully licensed expedition operator and we have guided ascents across Nepal’s technical peak spectrum — from accessible trekking peaks to demanding high-altitude objectives.

We run organised climbing expeditions in Nepal, and provide full logistics support for independent teams planning their own ascents. If you are putting together an expedition and need a reliable Nepal-side operator, talk to us.

Not sure where to start?

Tell us how fit you are, how much time you have, and what you want to feel at the end of it. We will point you in the right direction — whether that is a two-week fastpack, a custom remote trek, or something we design from scratch around your objectives.

Every HAL expedition comes with the same safety foundation regardless of which format you choose: HOSI protocols, satellite communication, remote doctor on call, WFA-certified guides, and a dedicated Kathmandu backstopper.
