Following on the footsteps of Langtang (fastpack) lollipop on April 13th Katherine Welch and I headed north of Kathmandu to fastpack in Helambu and Langtang National Park region. Our plan was to start from Shivapuri National Park entrance, north of Budhanilkantha temple and cross Shivapuri to pass Chisapani, Kutumsang, Magengoth and arrive at Thadepati (highest point 3690m on the trip) where we descend down (east) to Melanchigoan and make a loop back to Kutumsang and down the stick to Kathmandu through Shivapuri in four days. We were trying to make a mini lollipop!

View of overlapping hills can be equally satisfying.

After ~115k and four days of ups and downs (literally), with happy lungs, lighter packs, heavier legs, still smile on us we finished our Helambu Fastpack right at the noon at the Budhanilkantha temple.

Finishing with a smile at Budhanilkantha Temple
Do you see a lollipop?

Helambu Fastpack was a short but a great trip in the helambu region giving a glimpse of both Hindu and Buddhist culture and people and getting closer to the Himalayas. Hope you enjoy the pictures.
