Section IV: Persey Ridge to Hattiban Resort

Note: There are also tips on the approach trail to Persey Ridge described in Segment III. From Posan junction contour along the south side of the ridge and eventually hit the first dirt road junction. This road leads down to Godawari. Crossing this road take the trail into the forest immediately across and follow the height of land.

It will be overgrown with a number of trail options, all should work as long as you stay on top of the ridge. After about an hour you will come to another dirt road. Follow the wider trail immediately across and a bit to the left and traverse this second hill by again trying to follow the height of land, for about 40 minutes or so…this time you will need to drop down to your left on some switchbacks. It would be nice to continue straight ahead to shave some distance off, this may be possible but the hillside is quite steep and you would also be missing a great stretch of trail along the irrigation canal. Once you drop down to the road, head for the bus station and then go north with the irrigation canal on your right and the Bagmati River on your left. This trail ends after a few kilometers when you reach a large suspension bridge

From here follow GPS tracks, google maps, or otherwise the shortest path to Hattiban Resort – we did this by crossing a much larger bridge and then traversing farming fields before a narrow jungle trail up to the monastery and the road junction below Hattiban Resort. From the road junction it is easy trail to the resort, sometimes crossing the road switchbacks. It is also possible, and a bit more populated, to head toward Phaplu and then contour back on road to the trail junction for Hattiban.
